This research area was founded in 1996 and funded by the National Fund of Science, Technology and Research (In Spanish FONACIT) when an ambitious research on “Private Security Services in Venezuela” took place. It was strengthened in 1998 with the incorporation to the Legal Research Institute of Luis Gerardo Gabaldon who made it possible to reply in Caracas its work titled “Police and the Use of Physical Force” area where the researcher has wide experience and professional trajectory. Currently this research area is developed through an international level research together with Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela). It is called “Police and the Use of Force in a Comparative Perspective,” where experts from different countries take part.
