This research area started activities in the 60’s and since then several projects has been developed in close relation with the process of demographic and socio-economic change in Venezuela. Among its research topics are: information sources, fecundity, health and mortality, internal and international migration, urbanization and urban growing, population space distribution, population participation in economic activity, women’s’ work., population projections and policies. This research team has taken part in several funded by national and international organisms, as well as studies jointly coordinated with foreign universities and research centers in the population theme.
