This research area addresses research related to assessment and some of its connotations taking into account that it is a process directed to decision making and action. It starts from the existing knowledge on this area in the university context –internal and external-, what research comes from, in order to implement them in a practical way, and directed to the production of new materials, products, or instruments, or for the implementation of new procedures, practical or services, or to optimize the existing ones, or self assessment of teaching staff or institutional evaluation.
